21 MW Solar Farm Commissioning (33 kV)

Overview

SFTS were engaged at a very late stage in the commissioning phase of a 21 MW solar farm in northern Scotland which operated at 33 kV. SFTS were tasked with ensuring that the 33 kV network was fully commissioned and would meet strict DNO acceptance parameters.

Scope of Works

  • 7 x 33  kV Transformers – full commissioning.
  • 33 kV multi panel switchgear - full commissioning.
  • Upload client designed relay settings.
  • Injection testing of switchgear relays.
  • IR & VLF testing of all 33 kV cables on the client side.
  • Diagnosis, location and repair of 33 kV cable sheath fault.
  • Replacement of 45m section of 33 kV cable including jointing.
  • G99 testing witnessed by DNO.
  • Commissioning Pack compilation.

Results

SFTS successfully commissioned all of the client's 33 kV network, solving several engineering problems encountered in the short space of time between engagement and completion, to meet the strict deadline set for DNO connection and energisation!
